Creativity Comes from Your Heart

I hope to capture the hearts of my students and teach them to appreciate their individual artistic talents.
Life is always better with ART in it :)
We know that art is everywhere. We will be learning how to create Art, the elements of Art, different cultural Art, and how Art communicates ideas and feelings.

Name Art

Students learn about the elements of art, such as lines, color, and shape. They design their names using different elements they learned about. The image on the right and below are examples of a Name Art activity that is usually done in the beginning of the year when students are still getting to know each other.

Analogous Christmas Ornaments

Students learned about Primary, Secondary, intermediate, and Analogous colors. We created our own color wheels by blending our own colors. We then painted Christmas ornaments using analogous colors before we hung them onto pine needle branches. Here are a few samples.

Alexander Calder inspired masterpieces

Students learned about Alexander Calder, an artist known for using geometric & organic shapes, primary colors, and creating magnificent stabile structures. By using geometric/organic shapes and thick black lines, students illustrated a fruit/plant that the first Polynesians brought on their first voyage to Hawaii.
